Biography

Adel Fattough Ali Al Gazzar (Arabic: عادل الجزار) is a citizen of Egypt formerly held in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. The Department of Defense reports that he was born on October 22, 1965, in Cairo, Egypt. After approximately eight years in Guantanamo, he was transferred to Slovakia in January 2010. In June, he declared his intention to go on a hunger strike to protest conditions there.
