Joint urgent appeal — Israel (7/2020)

Information received concerning the allegations of ongoing home demolitions by the State of Israel with the purpose of evicting indigenous Bedouin communities, who are a part of the Arab Palestinian minority in the State of Israel, from their lands in the Naqab/Negev area and the use of criminal and administrative sanctions to deter the work of human rights defenders protecting their rights, including Sheikh Sayah Abu Madhi’m al-Turi and other members of the Abu Madhi’m A-Turi family from the village of Al-‘Aragib. We would also like to bring your attention that such forced evictions and home demolitions appear to take place in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, thus further elevating the risk to health and life of the persons subjected to forced evictions.
