As of 2026, it is the only terrorist incident linked to the Islamic State to occur in Norway. As of 2025, the shooter has had a trial, and its verdict has become final. In 2026, a lower court handed down a verdict, in regard to the trial against an alleged facilitator, Arfan Bhatti; he will be imprisoned for at least 30 years; however, he has appealed the case.
