Biography
Sergey Alexandrovich Maduev (Russian: СеÑгеÌй ÐлекÑаÌндÑÐ¾Ð²Ð¸Ñ ÐадÑÌев; born Ali Arbievich Maduev (Russian: ÐÐ»Ð¸Ì ÐÑбиÌÐµÐ²Ð¸Ñ ÐадÑÌев); 17 June 1956 â 10 December 2000) was one of the famous Soviet brigands, as well as a serial killer. He had the nickname "Chervonets", but he called himself "Thief-outside-the-law". Despite beginning his criminal activity in the 1970s, his most high-profile crimes occurred at the very end of the 1980s, which is why Maduev today is regarded as one of the last criminals of the Soviet era. Maduev achieved notoriety after an unsuccessful attempt to escape from Kresty Prison in March 1991, with the help of a female investigator whom he had seduced.
