Hermann Leopoldi (born Hersch Kohn; 15 August 1888 â 28 June 1959) was an Austrian composer and cabaret star who survived Dachau and Buchenwald. Einzi Stolz, wife of composer Robert Stolz, remembered him thus: "Leopoldi was for us all some sort of creature from a different planet.

Through salvation bordering on a miracle he had survived the horrors of concentration camps Buchenwald and Dachau. He maintained his belief in the good in humanity and remained an optimist, who gave courage and confidence to many in times of difficulty."
