Germaine Tillion (French: [ÊÉÊmÉn tijÉÌ]; 30 May 1907 â 18 April 2008) was a French ethnologist, known for her work in Algeria in the 1950s on behalf of the Government of France. A member of the French Resistance in World War II, she spent time in Ravensbrück concentration camp.
