Biography
Franz Maria Liedig (2 February 1900 â 30 March 1967) was a German naval officer who served in the navies of the German Empire, the Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany. In the late 1930s, he joined the resistance movement within the German military. He was arrested after the failed 20 July plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler and was interned in several Nazi concentration camps. Liberated at the end of the Second World War, he was a founding member of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria.
