About
Pre-existing penal colony repurposed as a detention site for captured Ukrainian defenders and civilians under Russian-controlled territory in Donetsk region. Named in multiple OHCHR HRMMU reports documenting alleged torture, inadequate food and medical care, and the July 2022 explosion that killed at least 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war. The facility was under the de facto administration of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic and subsequently Russian Federation forces.
